Product Care & Maintenance
Embers & Iron Grill Rack
Congratulations on choosing to elevate your grilling game. You’ve moved away from disposable hardware and invested in a rack built for performance. To ensure your Grill Rack delivers a lifetime of service and remains free from the rust that plagues lesser products, please follow these care guidelines.
1. Before the First Burn
Before you step up to the grill for the first time:
Wash the rack in warm, soapy water to remove any protective oils used during manufacturing.
Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.
Pro Tip: For stainless steel, apply a very light coat of high-smoke-point oil (like grapeseed or canola) and heat until the oil starts to smoke, do this up to two times to create a natural non-stick barrier.
2. Post-Grill Cleaning
Don’t let salt, acids, or food carbon sit on the surface for weeks.
The "Warm Scrub": The best time to clean is while the rack is still slightly warm (but safe to touch). Use a high-quality stainless steel brush or a nylon scourer.
Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Avoid using bleach or highly acidic oven cleaners.
Dishwasher Use: While our racks are built tough, we recommend hand washing to maintain the luster of the finish and prevent the harsh salts in dishwasher tablets from dulling the surface.
3. Preventing Corrosion
Even high-end metals can suffer from "surface rust" if they are put away wet or exposed to the elements indefinitely.
Dry is King: Never put your rack away while it is still damp. Moisture is the enemy of any metal.
Storage: If your grill is kept outdoors, ensure it is covered. If you live near the coast, the salt air is particularly aggressive—we recommend storing the rack inside the grill or a dry cupboard when not in use for long periods.
